I made these colour inspiration sheets using interiors from Ideal Home. I am using these colour palettes when designing my collection of cushions.

Logo
My first ever blog showed my initial ideas for a logo for my brand. I have been developing the logo in Photoshop and here are the results!
My initial sketch. |
I developed the sketch in to a vector shape using Photoshop. |
I experimented with different layer effects and added a drop shadow |
I decided the logo needed to look more 'fabricy' so I scanned some vintage fabrics and dropped them in to the shape. |
I added an outline |
My favourite - I used a white outline and a coloured background. |

Paper Cutting
Chinese Paper Cutting or Jianzhi (Chinese: 剪纸, jiǎn zhǐ) is the first type of papercutting design, since paper was invented by Cai Lun in the Eastern Han Dynasty in China. The art form later spread to other parts of the world with different regions adopting their own cultural styles. Because the cut outs are also used to decorate doors and windows, they are sometimes referred to "chuāng huā" (窗花), meaning Window Flower. (Information taken from Wikipedia)
I am really inspired by traditional Chinese Paper Cutting. I have done quite a lot of cut work in my own designs but nothing as intricate as these.
Here are some traditional Chinese Paper Cuttings by Zhou He.
I have also found some modern papercuts being sold on Etsy.

The Secret Garden
I am very lucky to live in a property surrounded by beautiful grounds. It was such a lovely afternoon today that I decided to have a wander around the grounds and take some photos for inspiration. I felt like I was in 'The Secret Garden' one of my favourite books!

Bedroom Transformation
Although I have been living in my flat now for about 9 months I am still steadily making improvements. This weekend I finally got round to sorting out the bedroom. It is still not perfect but I am much happier with it.
To add some colour and pattern to the wall without actually putting up wallpaper, I bought several picture frames from charity shops, painted them cream and filled them with wallpaper samples from Laura Ashley! I made the patchwork quilt last summer from new and vintage fabrics. The cushion was designed and made by me, hopefully more of these cushions will be available to buy from www.Etsy.com soon.
Let me know what you think of the transformation!

It was a great evening, I had lots of compliments about my work and lots of people were interested in my course so lets hope they all signed up for it! If you are interested in the course do not hesitate to contact me!
